Week 3 - Assignment: Prepare Your Project Schedule

Planning is one of the most critical stages in PM; it is where most of the activities take place. The scope is defined, the budget identified and allocated, and resources are secured.

A sound and proper communication and control structure must be in place, along with the project charter, to start working on the WBS—which is a list of activities, estimated duration, and resources needed or assigned to each task.

Once you have completed your activities list, you can use automated tools to manage your schedule. Tools like Primavera Project Planner, Microsoft Visio, Wrike, Bitrix24, Forecast.it, and other project scheduling tools assist the project manager in managing time and balancing resource allocation and time duration of each in visual mode. These tools can generate a series of reports and visualizations that will be helpful when reporting or communicating project progress to stakeholders.
