After reading Chapter 7 of Teaching in Nursing: A Guide for Faculty, reviewing Reflections of Evidence-Based Practice in Nurse Educators’ Teaching Philosophy Statements, and reviewing the samples provided in Teaching Philosophy Statement and Sample Teaching Philosophies, reflect on the following:
Do you think that teaching philosophies hinder or benefit learning experiences? Why or why not? Considering your future career as a nursing educator either in the academic or clinical setting, what teaching philosophies resonate most with you and why? Will you implement a teaching philosophy? What approach would you take and why? If you will not implement a teaching philosophy, explain and justify your rationale.
