A qualitative analysis focusing on the industry factors and corporate strategies of the company

Requirements: One of the fastest growing industries in the past two decades in New Zealand is the apparel industry. Yet some of the brand-named apparel companies in the country have not been faring well and suffering from low profitability. Pumpkin Patch Limited is one of these ailing apparel retailers. It went into voluntary administration in late 2016. An overseas entrepreneur who is keen to enter the New Zealand apparel market has asked you to provide him with a business analysis of Pumpkin Patch Limited. You are to conduct an evaluation of the company which clearly identifies and explains the reasons for its early success and recent problems. In your report, include the following: 1. A qualitative analysis focusing on the industry factors and corporate strategies of the company; 2. A financial analysis examining the implications of these factors on the financial viability/sustainability of the company; and 3. The lessons that can be drawn from the company’s experience. Please note that the purpose of this assignment is to assess your ability to demonstrate an understanding of the integrative nature of accounting through an in-depth investigation of a “real life” organisation. You are expected to utilise the knowledge gained through your study material (the 110.303 course and other courses) and any other information you have gathered from your own research to prepare an analysis of the above company as required. Additional guidelines for the preparation of your report A good report is expected to: a. clearly identify the report recipient, b. explain the purpose of the report, c. demonstrate an understanding of the uniqueness of the company in terms of: the nature of the company (e.g., the key issues or problematic circumstances involved), the historical background of the company (optional), and the internal and external settings of the company. d. address the requirements specified, and e. ensure that: The case is accurately represented; The identified issues are thoroughly analysed and discussed; Some conclusions are reached and recommendations made, based on the discussion; The report is structured in a manner that facilitates logical flow of the discussion; The sources of information, including published materials used in preparing the report, are suitably acknowledged and referenced; The information gathered for the assignment is treated ethically and professionally; The suggested case report presentation format in the Admin Guide and Study Notes. This word count should be stated clearly on the cover page.
